About Rejoignez Journal

Who runs Rejoignez Journal, what the blog covers, how articles are researched and checked, and how to reach the people who write them.

Start here

This is a blog and nothing more complicated than that. Nothing is deleted once it is up, so the archive is the full record, written to the standard of the line under the logo, Slow stays, small inns, good roads.

We started publishing after realising that the useful information about Slow travel, small inns and regional food in France existed, but only in the heads of people who had no reason to write it down. Rejoignez Journal writes it down.

Why this name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. Rejoignez Journal was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

How an article gets made

Each article answers one question about Slow travel, small inns and regional food in France and then stops. Padding a page to look thorough is the easiest way to waste a reader's afternoon.

We buy what we write about. It is slower, it is more expensive, and it is the only arrangement that lets us say a thing was not worth it.

How claims get checked and how money is disclosed is written down separately, on the editorial policy page.

What we publish

  • Games. Video games and gaming, especially the inns, villages and journeys that make game worlds feel like travel.
  • Inns and Stays. Family run inns, guesthouses and small hotels, and how to choose a good one.
  • Regional Food. What to eat, region by region, from market stalls to village tables.
  • Road Trips. Unhurried drives through the French countryside, planned with room to stop.
  • France Regions. Burgundy, Brittany, Provence and the quieter corners in between.
  • Travel Tips. Practical advice for booking, packing and travelling slowly.

Articles are filed under one topic each, so an archive page reads as a list rather than a pile. Most of the traffic here lands on games, inns and stays and regional food.

The money side

The site pays for itself through a small number of outbound links. It has never been enough to change what gets written, and the day it is, we will say so here.

Where we stop

We are not the right place for advice tailored to your exact situation. Rejoignez Journal publishes general guidance, and the difference matters more than it sounds.

The people

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Léonie Garnier, Editor. Léonie grew up above her aunt's auberge in the Jura and writes about the small places that make a trip worth remembering.

Mathis Leclerc, Games and culture writer. Mathis plays every game with a tavern or an inn in it and writes about how virtual travel borrows from the real thing.

Solène Aubry, Food and regions writer. Solène drives the back roads of Burgundy and Brittany each season, notebook in hand, looking for the next good village table.

Fixing mistakes

Point at the sentence. Write to [email protected] or use the contact page. Factual errors are fixed quickly, and when a correction changes the conclusion of a piece we say so at the foot of the page rather than editing quietly.
